Mark counsels some of the country's leading real estate development firms, and has acted as development counsel on a variety of large urban and suburban development projects, including The Eaton Centre, the CBC Broadcast Centre, the CN Tower expansion, Bay-Adelaide, numerous downtown residential projects (including Spire, Tip Top Lofts and Radio City), the ongoing development of the Square One Shopping Centre, and greenfield development in new communities such as Brampton's Credit Valley area and Milton's urban expansion areas. He has been involved in the redevelopment of a number of brownfield sites including the restoration and redevelopment of the historic Gooderham & Worts Distillery site, as well as the redevelopment of the St. Lawrence Starch site in Port Credit. He also has significant experience with respect to development charge and infrastructure financing matters. Mark has been consistently recommended by The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory as one of the leading practitioners in land development work.

Mark joined Goodmans as a summer student in 1984 and has been a partner since 1993.

Mark shares his experience on municipal and development matters, delivering lectures on a variety of land use, infrastructure financing and municipal matters. From 1987 to 1999, he volunteered as a director for The Creche Child and Family Centre. Mark was previously on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of Urban Development Institute/Ontario, and he continues to provide advice to BILD on land use policy and legislative matters.

Rob Spanier is the Vice President of LiveWorkLearnPlay, a cutting edge international mixed-use development, leasing and advisory firm with offices in Austin, Montreal and Toronto. Rob has over a decade of international hands-on experience in large-scale mixed-use project deal making, having helped develop over 30 projects in North America, Europe, Mexico and the Caribbean. During his 5-year tenure as a senior executive with Intrawest Corporation, Rob was instrumental in helping to create world class mixed-use destination resort towns; heading their international leasing team to complete over 300 mixed-use non-traditional retail, restaurant, entertainment, hospitality and service-based deals.

Frank Magliocco is the National Leader for the Canadian Real Estate Practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. Frank is responsible for the delivery of our audit services and for coordinating the delivery of our tax and advisory services to the real estate industry. He has over seventeen years of experience in the public and private real estate practice.

Frank specializes in auditing, accounting and regulatory matters for real estate companies. He has advised many companies in the broad real estate sector including property developers, residential construction companies, large national office, industrial, and retail property owners, and property managers.

Laurie is a Senior Development Manager with Toronto Community Housing.  She is leading the redevelopment of Lawrence Heights and Allenbury Gardens - two 1960s era social housing projects that are on the way to being revitalized into mixed-use, mixed-income communities.  This work bridges Laurie’s two passions: working with communities and complex city-building initiatives.

As an urban planner with a focus on creating diverse, dynamic and sustainable urban environments, Laurie has managed several award-winning redevelopment projects across Canada and abroad.  As a Senior Associate with Urban Strategies Inc., Laurie managed planning and implementation of the East Bayfront Precinct for Waterfront Toronto.  She led the master plan and development approval for Parkside Village in Mississauga City Centre, which is planned to be one of Canada’s densest communities.  In the UK, Laurie developed the master plan for Springfield University Hospital - a 200-year old mental health asylum in Central London.

Laurie has worked with a variety of public and private sector clients, including: Oxford Properties, DuPont Canada, City of Toronto, City of Corner Brook, Newfoundland, Halton Region, Partnerships BC, Ontario Growth Secretariat and the Central Salford Regeneration Company.

Laurie is the communications co-chair for ULI Toronto and an active member of the Young Leaders Group.

Bruce Logan is a senior public affairs and marketing executive with 15+ years experience leading Canadian and international corporate programs in both the public and private sectors.


As Senior Director, Corporate Affairs & Operations, Bruce is responsible for a wide range of functional areas that support BUILD TORONTO's business plan, public policy planning and industry reputation. Bruce brings a unique understanding of various industry markets and a collaborative business development approach in helping to shape BUILD TORONTO's future direction and success.

Prior to BUILD TORONTO, Bruce was Vice President of Strategy, and Vice President, Business Director with two leading consulting firms. Over his career he has provided integrated consulting, both in Canada and abroad to organizations such as Accenture, AMEC, Barrick, Bell, BMW, Borden Ladner Gervais, the City of Toronto, Emcor, GlaxoSmithKline, LG, Merck, the Ontario Government, Siemens, Teleglobe, Walmart, Wind Mobile, and Xerox.

In addition to ULI, Bruce is a member of CivicAction's Emerging Leaders Network (ELN), and on the board of Camp Awakening, an organization dedicated to supporting the development of children with physical disabilities.

Lui Mancinelli is a vice president and leader of Stantec's Commercial Architecture practice and is currently located in the Toronto (Wellington), Ontario office. He is responsible for growing and diversifying Stantec's service capability and thought leadership as well as building client and partner relationships across a number of Mixed- use and Corporate Office markets globally. His work will focus on the integration of Architecture and Interior design disciplines as they touch the Residential, Retail, Hospitality, Commercial Office and Corporate office markets. Lui joined Stantec in 2010. Prior to that he was a senior vice president & managing principal with HOK, where he was a member of HOK's global Board of Directors, and instrumental in growing and diversifying the Canadian practice and its markets. .

Lui earned his bachelor of architectural technology from Ryerson University in 1987, and is a LEED® 2.0 Accredited Professional.

Derek is the Vice President of Land Development at Infrastructure Ontario where he is responsible for adding value to the Provincial real estate portfolio and providing real estate development advisory services to IO clients.  A specific focus of this role is to engage the private sector using innovative deal structures to optimize risk allocation and land values.

Prior to joining Infrastructure Ontario, Derek gained over 10 years of experience in the real estate industry, most recently as the Director of Development at Waterfront Toronto where he was responsible for attracting $1.4 billion in private investment representing over 4 million square feet of development to the waterfront.  He was also a key member of the Pan-Am Athletes Village team for Waterfront Toronto working in partnership with Infrastructure Ontario.  Derek began his career at MintoUrban Communities, an integrated real estate company based on Ottawa, where his responsibilities included financial analysis and the development and implementation of business cases for a variety of projects.  In this capacity he benefited from exposure to all aspects of the acquisition, development, operation, and disposition of real property. 

Derek holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering and Management from MacMaster University and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Toronto, and is an active member of the Toronto District Council of the Urban Land Institute.

Robert Freedman, Director of Urban Design for the City of Toronto, has worked in a wide variety of urban and suburban environments in both the public and private sectors. 

He has an interdisciplinary background including a Law degree from the University of Toronto, a degree in Architecture from the University of British Columbia and a Masters in Urban Planning from the City University of New York (CUNY). Between 1993 and 2002 Robert worked with Urban Design Associates, an award winning Architecture and Urban Design firm based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on projects in cities across the United States. Since joining the City of Toronto Mr. Freedman has taken the lead on a number of major urban design initiatives including: the creation of design guidelines for mid-rise and tall buildings and city-wide street design standards - including details for the City's new light rapid transit network. Robert also played a leading role in establishing the City's Design Review Panel.

Robert is active as a founding member of the new national organization – Council for Canadian Urbanism (CanU) and is a frequent lecturer on urban design, architecture and planning issues.

Jamie is a Partner and Vice President of Asset Management at Crown Realty Partners, a Toronto–based commercial real estate investment and management company. Crown co-invests with its partners and has approximately 4 million square feet of office space under management. Jamie is responsible for the day-to-day asset management of the Crown portfolio and is involved with acquisitions, dispositions, and investor reporting.

Jamie has spent 20 years in various aspects of the real estate industry including: acquisitions, dispositions, development, financing, and asset management. He has worked across multiple asset classes including: retail, office, multi residential, and condominium development.

Mark Kindrachuk is the President of Intermarket Developments; and develops large scale mixed use and commercial projects across Canada. Intermarket's current projects include the $100M Sportsworld Crossing retail/office project in Kitchener, Ont; the development of a 225 acre prestige office park in Cambridge, Ont called Creekside Corporate Campus and Waterloo Commons, a 750,000 SF mixed use project in Waterloo, Ont.

Intermarket also provides Project Management Services to a wide range of private companies and government agencies. Mark has managed two of the largest events in Canada; when his firm was retained to coordinate the Papal Visit to Downsview Park which drew over 850,000 attendees. Intermarket also managed the very successful SARS Rolling Stones Concert at Downsview Park. Prior to starting his own company, Mark previously held Senior Management positions with First Gulf Development Group and CN Real Estate. While at CN Real Estate, Mark gained international experience by managing a high profile waterfront project in Buenos Aires, Argentina that was financed by the World Bank and United National Development Program.

Mark has a Masters Degree in Architecture from the University of Houston and an undergraduate degree from Bowling Green State University.

Mansoor Kazerouni is an Architect and Executive Vice President at Page + Steele IBI Group Architects (P+S IBI) with a Master's degree in Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis. Mansoor leads the P+S IBI team on some of its most complex projects providing design direction, leadership and overall management of the projects. Over the last 20 years he has worked on a number of Hospitality, Residential, Commercial, Institutional and complex mixed use projects leading multi-disciplinary teams. John started his career at Royal LePage in 1974, and founded and managed their Appraisal Practice Group until his move to the brokerage industry in 1985. John was a top 10 broker for Royal Le Page until 1990, when he returned to management. From 1990 to 1998, John ran the brokerage activities for LePage's Toronto region and the National Investment Team.

John joined Cornerstone Commercial Realty, which was subsequently purchased by the TD Bank and rebranded TD Cornerstone. John was a Managing Director of TD Securities and managed a team of investment brokers.

John has sold some of the highest profile assets in Canada, including the Toronto Dominion Centre, Pacific Centre and The Toronto Eaton Centre, and was responsible for over $8 billion in transaction activity.

A founder and principal of Quadrangle, Les is committed to the notion that urban maintaining and enhancing the quality of life for the entire community. Les has two Bachelor of Science degrees (one in Arts & Design, the other in Mathematics) and a Master of Architecture from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). As a result of his MIT education, Les takes a problem-solving approach to architecture that pays great heed to each individual client's needs and aspirations. He is able to envision numerous solutions to every architectural challenge.

Previously the founding partner of Klein Taylor Goldsmith Limited, Les merged his firm with Curtner Brown Architects to create Quadrangle in 1986. His work in innovative residential development for diverse populations, the adaptive reuse of existing structures and the creation of dynamic environments for ideas-based private sector entrepreneurs has greatly influenced the growth and success of the firm. Much of this work is focused on urban housing, broadcast and media facilities, corporate offices and hotels.

A firm believer in sharing knowledge, Les has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Toronto's Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design, as well as a visiting critic at the University of Waterloo and York University. In 1994, Les was honoured by his peers with induction into the College of Fellows of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (FRAIC). Over the years, Les has received numerous awards for his work, including the W. Gerald Raymore Medal from the Ontario Association of Architects.

Peter is a catalyst for great partnerships ­equal parts connector, communicator and impresario. During his tenure at the helm of Spencer Francey Peters (SFP) he solidified the firm in the echelon of leading North America branding and design agencies. Peter's been a passionate advocate for the design sector in Canada since the 1980's when he helped found the Group for Design in Business. His volunteer Board experience includes the Toronto' s Design Exchange and the Children¹s Discovery Museum. In 2005, he helped launch the Toronto District Council of the Urban Land Institute and served as its Chairman for four years. Peter is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario with majors in English and Psychology.
