Dear Members,

I hope this finds you, your family and colleagues healthy.

Veterans of past economic disruptions can attest to the critical role that strong industry associations play in the advancement of businesses and careers. Leaning into networks, such as the Urban Land Institute, is a key way to navigate – and take control of – an uncertain business landscape and market horizon. It is also an important way to contribute to the immediate demands of our collective COVID-19 relief effort and the eventual shift toward recovery.

ULI Toronto has responded to the COVID-19 crisis and disruption. We have successfully pivoted from what was supposed to be the home stretch of our hosting the major (4000+ person) 2020 ULI Spring Meeting, to a robust online offering that is delivering more timely content, action and audience than we have ever experienced.

In a manner of just a few weeks, we have convened more than 3,900 industry professionals online, ranging from calls to action to support the immediate COVID-19 relief effort, economic analysis, and insightful considerations of what is to become the new normal. We quickly got on top of the rapidly shifting landscape in order to provide our members with essential industry knowledge and information – as well as an opportunity to stay connected during this physically distanced time.

This month’s newsletter was delayed somewhat by the circumstances and provides some updates from events and activities that now seem so distant – including our amazing Meet the Chiefs dinner on March 10th. And while our new reality has been so incredibly altered, we are on track to posting the largest annual audience we have ever experienced for our programming – and continued growth in our membership.
