The closure of airport facilities often represents a rare opportunity to redevelop large tracts of land within an urban area, as well as unlock adjacent redevelopment no longer constrained by flight path restrictions. With the recent announcement that  Bombardier will close its facility at Downsview, significant interest has been generated across the spectrum as to the future fate of these lands. While extensive planning was completed following the closure of the Canadian Forces base, this recent announcement changes things again. What can we learn from other airport redevelopment projects? Join industry leaders as they speak about the development of former airport lands at Playa Vista (Los Angeles), Blatchford (Edmonton) and Stapleton (Denver).
