2021-2022
Despite the continued impact of COVID-19, Toronto worked with ULI National to support UrbanPlan as well as assist two Vancouver schools with their first delivery of the program. In Toronto, Grade 12 students from Central Toronto Academy and Grade 9 students from Bloor Collegiate participated through an online or hybrid delivery model.
The classroom curriculum, which provides high school students with hands-on experience in developing land use solutions to real estate challenges – was updated this Spring and tested with Bloor Collegiate. Participating volunteers – ULI members who act as facilitators and judges for the student projects – were trained on the new curriculum, and work is underway to create a new curriculum handbook for use in Canada.
ULI Toronto anticipates ramping up the program in the 2022 school year with outreach to teachers and a training session for interested volunteers.
