Autumn Greetings from the ULI Toronto Women’s Leadership Initiative
ULI Toronto’s first major Symposium on Emerging Trends and City Building is coming up November 2nd + November 3rd.
October 16, 2015
Stockton Williams, Executive Director of the ULI Terwilliger Center for Housing, will present national trends and perspectives in multifamily housing development, including demographic changes, design and financing, as well as issues and emerging solutions for addressing affordable housing in many American metropolitan areas. Mr. Williams will be joined by a panel of local experts in housing and residential development, including the chief municipal planner for the City of Buffalo (Brendan Mehaffy), an affordable housing advocate and developer (Aaron Bartley), and a private real estate developer with experience developing residential projects in multiple markets (Nick Sinatra). A moderated panel discussion will follow Mr. Williams’s presentation and opening remarks by each of the panelists. Tom Fox, Ellicott Development Company, will moderate the discussion. As the housing market in the Buffalo Niagara region continues to accelerate, and affordable housing issues begin to emerge, this program will provide timely and valuable information for developers, planners, financiers and other parties involved in multifamily housing.
The ULI Terwilliger Center for Housing engages in a multifaceted program of work that includes research, publications, convening, awards, and technical assistance. The Center’s mission is to facilitate creating and sustaining a full spectrum of housing opportunities—including affordable and workforce housing—in communities across the country. Established in 2007 with a gift from longtime ULI member and former ULI chairman J. Ronald Terwilliger, the Center’s initial mission was to expand workforce housing opportunities for families earning 60 to 120 percent of the area median income. While the Center’s primary focus remains on housing affordability, with a particular emphasis on workforce housing policies and projects, their mission has expanded in 2011 to include a broader range of housing issues.
