Black History Month Resources
Since 1995, the month of February has been widely recognized as Black History Month in Canada. Throughout history, Black Canadians have made tremendous achievements and contributions to the advancement of the lives of all Canadians.
As we head into the month of February, ULI Toronto, along with our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, would like to celebrate the historical accomplishments and continue to educate our members on the challenges that many Black Canadians face and how we as industry professionals and community leaders can address structural racism in our daily practices.
ULI Toronto’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee has put together a curated list of events and resources from organizations around the Greater Golden Horseshoe that educate and honour Black history in Canada.
We encourage you to support the organizations and activists who work within their own communities year-round to preserve and advance their cultural history.
On February 1, ULI Toronto is hosting Redressing Black Displacement in Canada to kick-off Black History Month. We encourage you to attend as we travel across Canada to explore the impacts of displacement and urban renewal on Black communities and landmarks across Canada.
