TORONTO (June 19, 2024) – The Urban Land Institute (ULI) Toronto is excited to announce a series of changes to its local leadership.
Effective July 1, 2024: Salima Rawji, President and CEO, York University Development Corporation joins the ULI Toronto Management Committee as Chair. She succeeds Michelle Ackerman, Consultant, Kilmer Group, who will continue to serve on the Executive Committee in her new role as Past Chair and as Chair of the Governance Committee.
Tobias Oriwol, Senior Vice President, Investments, Tricon Residential, will serve as Vice Chair succeeding Andrew Garrett, University of Guelph. Kristy Shortall, Senior Vice President, Development, Northcrest Developments will serve as Chair of Mission Advancement, succeeding Renée Gomes, Senior Vice President, Development, DiamondCorp.
Emma West, Partner, Bousfields Inc., has been appointed to Chair, ULI Toronto Advisory Board, succeeding Cyndi Rottenberg-Walker, Partner, Urban Strategies Inc.
Lisa Ward Maher, Senior Associate at Bousfields recently joined the Program Committee as Co-Chair succeeding Heela Omarkhail, Vice President of Social Impact at The Daniels Corporation. Lisa will be joined by Myles Millard, Managing Director, Hines, our incoming Co-Chair of the Program Committee.
ULI Toronto’s District Council continues to be the 2nd largest in the ULI Global network with a membership of 2,200 members locally. In the past year the District Council has convened over 10,000 industry professionals in over 60 webinar and in-person events.
This past year, Jennifer Khan, Vice President, Inclusive Diversity, EllisDon completed her term as DEIR Council Co-Chair and we welcomed Selina Young, Director, Indigenous Affairs Office, City of Toronto. We would also like to thank Danine Das, Vice President, Global Inclusion, Scotiabank for her term as DEIR Council Co-Chair.
Heidi Green, Director, Development, RioCan REIT, has assumed the role of Co-Chair of the ULI Toronto-supported Accelerating Accessibility Coalition, taking over from Heela Omarkhail, Vice President of Social Impact at The Daniels Corporation, and joining Co-Chair Luke Anderson, Executive Director, StopGap Foundation.
Earlier this year Christine Chea, Director, Development, GTA Urban Division at Mattamy Homes succeeded Saira Muzaffar, Director, Marketing and Communications at BTY Group as Co-Chair of the Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) Committee. We would like to thank Anna Ritacca, Principal and Strategic Advisor at BEL+RIT Urbanism who is succeeded by Audrey Jacob, Toronto City Executive & Places Canada Business Area Director, Arcadis.
ULI’s Outreach Committee has recently welcomed Agnes Kazmierczak, Senior Associate, GEC Architecture as Co-Chair to replace Laura Sellors, CGO, SvN Architects + Planners. Agnes joins Co-Chair Jonathan Tinney, Principal, SvN Architects + Planners. The Outreach Committee will be known as the Advisory Services Committee going forward to reflect its mission to identify and lead Technical Assistance Panels for public sponsors.
Student Committee will be led by Kendra Barkman, Manager, Development, CreateTO and Matthew Kerner, Development Engineer, EIT, Creative Energy.
ULI Connect welcomes Matthew Suriano, Principal, Suriano Architects, to the position of Co-Chair, ULI Connect, who will succeed Jordan Kemp, Vice President, Development, Graywood Developments.
We would like to also thank John Lilly, Co-Founder, Render Developments for his term as Membership Co-Chair.
