Emma West appointed to Chair, ULI Toronto and Cyndi Rottenberg-Walker as Vice Chair and Chair of Mission Advancement
TORONTO (February 11, 2020) – With a fast-growing membership in a fiercely competitive global city, the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Toronto is excited to welcome two notable and influential industry professionals as the new leadership of its Management Committee. Effective July 1, 2020, Emma West, Partner, Bousfields will join the Management Committee of ULI Toronto as the new Chair.
About Emma West, Chair, ULI Toronto District Council
As incoming Chair, Emma West will continue her dedication to elevating ULI Toronto including broadening its impact both at home and abroad. Emma brings her breadth of experience with various ULI Toronto and ULI Global initiatives to the role, including her prior leadership positions with, to name a few, the Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) Toronto Co-Chair and Global Executive Committee, Urban Revitalization Council member and Vice Chair and Chair of Mission Advancement of District Council. From her background in environmental and sustainable community planning to her time working in Amman on the regional plan to her current position at Bousfields Inc. leading public and private sector development approvals, Emma has led numerous cross-disciplinary teams implementing some of our most complex city-building projects.
Her commitment to fostering collaboration and connections, and her drive to empower the region’s next generation of leaders, Emma has been, and continues to be, a global champion of our region and industry.

About Cyndi Rottenberg-Walker, Vice Chair, ULI Toronto District Council
Cyndi Rottenberg-Walker brings her strong multidisciplinary background and work as a planner and partner with Urban Strategies Inc. to the important work of ULI in her new role as Vice Chair and Chair of Mission Advancement. This builds on her past role as Co-Chair of ULI Toronto’s Symposiums in 2015 and 2018; Co-Chair for the tour days of the 2020 ULI Spring Meeting; and as a member of the University Development and Innovation Product Council.
Cyndi’s understanding of the many factors that contribute to healthy urban environments has been applied across a diversity of project types, scales, jurisdictions and urban environments, and include large-scale master plans, complex planning approvals and innovative policy studies. She is committed to effecting positive change in urban and urbanizing settings at all scales, is known for her skill in motivating diverse groups toward a common purpose, and is excited for this opportunity to apply these perspectives to advancing the mission of ULI.
Leslie Klein, Principal, Quadrangle whose two-year term will culminate after the ULI Spring Meeting is hosted in Toronto for the first time, will continue his strategic leadership of ULI Toronto as the new Chair of the Governance Committee. “It has been a pleasure to serve ULI Toronto as the Chair over the course of the 2018-2020 term. I am thrilled that the strides we have made to create thriving and sustainable cities worldwide will be further advanced under Emma’s leadership.”
As the fourth largest in the global District Council network, ULI Toronto’s membership has grown significantly over the past five years and our immense activity has set the stage for the international ULI Spring Meeting taking place May 12-14, 2020. The conference will bring over 4,000 people from across real estate and land use industries to Toronto. Under the direction of ULI Toronto Executive Director Richard Joy, the new leadership will be tasked with continuing to build upon these successes, while broadening the discussions about progressive city building to a wider, community audience.
