ULI Toronto announces new membership committee co-chairs for 2020 - 2022

Terry Olynyk and Katarzyna Sliwa to drive ULI Toronto’s membership
TORONTO (January 6, 2020) – With a fast-growing membership and the upcoming 2020 Urban Land Institute (ULI) Spring Meeting, ULI Toronto is excited to welcome two notable and influential industry professionals as the new co-chairs of its Membership Committee. President And Managing Director of Multiplex in Canada Terry Olynyk will join Katarzyna Sliwa, Partner at Dentons Canada LLP as Co-Chairs of the ULI Toronto Membership Committee and members of the ULI Toronto Management Committee.
Yvonne Yeung, Manager, Urban Design, City of Brampton who recently completed her two-year term as Co-Chair, will now continue her efforts from her seat on the Management Committee in Special Projects. Anne Benedetti, Partner, Goodmans LLP and outgoing Co-Chair will continue her work with the Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) Toronto.
“Terry and Katarzyna’s professional experiences within the land use industry, combined with their business acumen, will propel ULI’s membership in a significant way. We are very excited for the fresh ideas and creative thinking this new leadership will bring.” said Richard Joy.
As the fifth largest in the global District Council network, ULI Toronto’s membership has grown significantly over the past five years and our immense activity has set the stage for the international ULI Spring Meeting taking place May 12-14, 2020. The conference will bring over 4,000 people from across real state and land use industries to Toronto. Locally, ULI Toronto will look to build on the success of the meeting under the direction of Terry and Katarzyna and elevate our membership to record highs.
About Terry Olynyk, President and Managing Director, Canada, Multiplex As President and Managing Director of Multiplex in Canada, Terry is responsible for executing business decisions that ensure long-term value, realize innovative solutions for construction partners, and drive precision as the company continues its expansion in Canada. With more than 25 years in the Toronto construction industry, Terry has expert knowledge of the local market and longstanding and collaborative relationships within the industry. His entrepreneurial passion for developing people and product drives the continued evolution of construction approaches and practices, creating positive impacts for communities and the environment. Terry is LEED accredited and is on the Board of Directors for the Canada Green Building Council Toronto Chapter.
About Katarzyna Sliwa, Partner, Dentons Canada LLP A partner at Dentons Canada LLP, Katarzyna (Kat) manages the municipal, land use planning and development law group. She provides counsel to clients as they weave through the approval process for development and redevelopment projects and strategically guides them in resolving complex land use issues throughout the province of Ontario. A savvy negotiator, Kat is accomplished in taking clients from the beginning of the development proposal, to approval, and negotiating and drafting development agreements. She frequently appears before the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (formerly the Ontario Municipal Board), as well as municipal councils and committees. Her vast experience extends to a wide spectrum of development aspects (including official plan, zoning, subdivision, severance, minor variance and site plans approvals). Kat is a member of the Dentons’ Global Smart Cities and Communities Think Tank. Most recently Kat was named in the 2020 edition of The Best Lawyers in Canada for her work in Municipal Law.
