#CityResolve 2015 Winner
The winner of our #cityresolve campaign for 2015 was Sarah Marchionda.
#cityresolve is back and wants to know what YOU are doing to make your City more awesome. What’s your #cityresolve?
Wait, you don’t know what #cityresolve is? Let me break it down for you. CityResolve is an initiative conceived by the amazing people behind the Urban Land Institute Toronto (ULI Toronto) and supported by some of the brightest minds in the Toronto Real Estate Development and Planning community! Last year, Toronto Chief City Planner Jennifer Keesmaat was all over the initiative along with Mayor John Tory who both produced awesome videos for us and hundreds of engaged urbanites sharing their #cityresolve goals on Twitter. Every day, ULI Toronto will pick our favourite #cityresolve and the winners will get an Urbanize trucker hat so get tweeting! You’ll have to keep reading to find out what the grand prize is.
#cityresolve has been super successful in bringing like minded Torontonians together with the common goal of making our (your) City a better place to be while mobilizing eager citizens to just do better for those around them and themselves. This year we’re so very excited to have Mayor Bevilacqua of the City of Vaughan on board. Have you seen what he’s doing for Vaughan? He’s leading a massive shift in the way suburban Cities are developed. He essentially taking a suburb and building a City with a true downtown like you’d find in larger more developed urban centres like Toronto. He’s focussing more on the Urban and less on the Sub. His efforts have already landed KPMG with a 400 employee office space and we’re confident he’ll be successful in seeing his vision through over the coming years. Oh and the #cityresolve grand prize is a meet and greet with this amazing visionary! You see, this is the kind of people ULI works with and showcases. Mayor Bevilacqua’s #cityresolve is to build an entire World Class City!
Don’t worry, yours doesn’t have to be that complicated. You can start with shoveling your elderly neighbour’s driveway when it snows and go from there. Deal? We made it a bit of a game with my circle of friends who have nothing do to with planning or development, they just care about Toronto and hadn’t found a way to channel their love for the City into something good. That’s what #cityresolve does. You with me? My City Resolve last year (and continues to be) was to ensure everything I wear, eat, drink, and buy was locally sourced. Not an easy task but even if I made it 70% there it makes a huge difference in the community and makes me feel whole. Since the inaugural #cityresolve campaign last year, we’ve managed to gain some serious traction.
Since then ULI Toronto has built a foundation of solid volunteers and an engaged membership. With this new support and motivation, we hope to catapult the #cityresolve campaign into as many Cities around the World as possible. Let’s get this puppy trending so when you decide what your #cityresolve is don’t forget to tweet it out and also include your airport code as a hashtag so we can share your amazing goals! Ready to get started? #cityresolve runs from Wednesday at 6am until Friday at 4pm.
