Ontario’s new Municipal Affairs and Housing Minister (as Minister of Legislative Affairs) has tabled his first, sweeping new legislation to advance the Province’s agenda to usher in an unprecedented wave of new housing construction. If passed, Bill 185, would impact a wide range of public policy from new prohibitions on appeals of official plan and zoning matters, to new ‘use-it-or-lose-it’ powers relating to servicing allocation and subdivision and site plan matters, to 18-storey mass timber, a new framework for MZOs, exemptions from the planning approval process for public universities, the elimination of minimum parking in transit zones, and much more.

Join ULI Toronto as we, yet again, unpack the implications to planning and development from this latest of provincial legislative reforms.
