Kick Off: Neighbourhood Bus Tour – October 26, 2019 – Agenda
Toronto’s neighbourhoods were developed at different points in time. This map of citywide residential zones clearly illustrates where all residential uses are permitted in the former city of Toronto from the rest of city where only detached housing is permitted. This distinction is often referred to as the brown belt and the yellow belt. It is fundamental for ULI participants to see, feel and touch how different neighbourhoods have evolved and to document the future opportunities to increase housing choices.
An all-day bus and walking tour of neighbourhoods in the north, south, east and west will help to kick start the program. The tour will involve local community association representatives, BIA coordinators/merchants and city councillors.
Roundtable: Community Representatives, Councillors, City Staff – Nov 20, 2019 – Agenda
The key objective of this session will be to initiate a discussion about the existing and ongoing housing challenges facing the City of Toronto and how our neighbourhoods can be part of the solution as the city continues to evolve. To do this, it is essential to distinguish between the Official Plan and the Zoning by-law as they are often confused. Official Plans are about vision. Zoning by-laws are about precision.
