Event Recap: Cannon Knitting Mills Exploration
It’s a weekend morning in Hamilton. Hard sunlight bounces off a few slow-moving automobiles – even boom-boom stereos are dialled down...
The ULI Summer Social has become a staple in the social calendars for many young developers and urban enthusiasts. For 5 years now, on the second Thursday in July, over 500 urbanists descend upon the ultra-chic Queen West Club, Cube in their most fashion-forward business wear and engage in wonderful conversations and libations. Old friends have the chance to reconnect while new members get to see a whole other side to ULI Toronto.
This year, ULI Toronto’s committees wanted to add a little “je-ne-sais-quoi’ to the event and, by asking for a small ticket fee, they did not disappoint. There were complimentary drink tickets, delicious snacks, sponsored promotions as well as over a dozen prizes. These prizes were wide ranging. Attendees were given the opportunity to win a Chef’s Table at Earls, dinner at The Chase, Argos and Jays tickets and Second City passes. Other prizes included gym memberships as well as hair and spa days and signed memorabilia.
But this year was so much more than the added goodies. ULI Toronto wanted attendees to step outside their niches and meet their peers. Many of the prizes were contingent on meeting new people. For example, the BINGO game encouraged attendees to learn more about their fellow partygoers. This year, ULI Toronto truly lived up to the expectations of a “social.”
The day was beautiful, the music was amazing and the networking casual yet lucrative.
This particular attendee could go on about all the highlights of the event (one of which was the incredible DJClassick) but she would rather hear from you! What did you think of the event?

Hope to see you all next year!
